Narragansett Regional High School Wind Turbine

The town of Templeton received a grant from the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative (MTC) to develop a 1.5-megawatt wind turbine project at the Narragansett Regional High School. The wind turbine project is a joint effort between the Templeton Municipal Light & Water Company and the Narragansett Regional School District – which together have formed the Green Energy Educational Collaborative – to capture multiple benefits, including renewable energy for consumers and educational activities for students as part of the district’s curriculum. The project was completed in a phased approach: first year, a meteorological (MET) tower was installed that monitored winds onsite, second year, the base of the turbine tower was completed, and the third year, the wind turbine was installed

  • Geotechnical investigation and standard penetration testing
  • Structural engineering evaluation and review of geotechnical information
  • Design of site improvements for access roadway and turbine service area
  • Design loading calculations and plan preparation
  • Structural design for foundation and turbine tower anchorage
  • Coordination with wind turbine tower supplier
