Chatham Bars Inn Resort, Chatham, MA
About this project:
Coastal Engineering Company was hired by the Chatham Bars Inn Resort to permit a large beach nourishment project in an extremely tight timeframe -- and coordinate the nourishment efforts with both the Town of Chatham and the Barnstable County dredge program. The project was designed and the permitting process completed in time for the county dredge to pump dredge material from Aunt Lydia's Cove directly onto the beach in front of the resort. As part of the project, over 20,000 square feet of beach grass was planted to stabilize the large dune that was constructed as a result of the dredging and beach nourishment.
Coastal Engineering's services included:
- Design of dune beach system
- Coordination with Town and County officials
- Survey layout of dredge containment area
- Preparation of permitting plans and applications
- Environmental permitting services at the local, state, and federal levels
- Construction and as-built surveys of project area
- Construction inspections and field redesign of project
- Implementation of a long-term monitoring program for future beach nourishment.
